I’ve been playing on controller in fortnite since season 1. I have earnings. The aim assist is horrible. No aim assist in bushes and no aim assist in windows. Also you will randomly lose aim assist in certain situations like spraying a weapon or using a red-eye rifle. It turns on and off whenever it wants to and it’s quite frankly annoying.
Aim assist is at a perfect spot rn. Controller still requires a ton of skill. it does require skill, I wouldn't say as much skill as keyboard but, aim assist on pc is still over powered in my opinion and many keyboard players and some controller players would agree with me, hope you understand my take on the matter.
1. Aim Assist on Console vs PC. Console AA is set by default to 0.6 (or 60%) AA, including the Nintendo Switch. Console players have the choice to switch down to PC aim assist values by going into ALC settings. PC AA is locked at 0.4 (or 40%) AA and cannot be set to anything higher.
However, on controller on PC, this is not the case. You only get auto rotation at the closest range at certain angles when you are making large stick movements so it is much more rare. TLDR: Controller on Console currently has more aim assist than Controller on PC. You can easily test it for yourself. 5.

Once you are in a game, go into your settings. Then, go into HUD in your settings. Make sure ASSIST AIM is turned ON!! Also and very important, make sure, RETICLE is turned ON (it is at the very top)! This should fix most people’s problem with their assist aim no longer working!!
Aim assist isn't on mouse and keyboard, aim assist is 3 things - magnetism, drag, and slowdown on aim. Controllers have all 3, mouse has magnetism on some games that bend bullets toward the target by a few degrees. This is of course because aa is overtuned on most all pvp shooters as of late to compensate for bad stick aim.
